I've also done the same thing and gotten 3 rubies + gold a couple times. As in, I've fought a group in 0 light and got no loot several times. Special team comps, and shamblers.įrom experience, doing a battle in the dark just increases the chance of getting better loot and raises the cap, it doesn't guarantee it. Really the only reasons to do a dark run are the reasons I said above. At best they give me my full haul halfway through instead of toward the end, but I'm leaving with pretty much the exact same stuff I would otherwise be leaving with. The exact same freaking rewards because I still have to ditch items for other items.

Usually on mid runs I'm ditching items for room very early in a run and well before the end of it I've already got pretty much as good of a haul as I'm going to get. Yes I have done torchless runs, several in fact, and the difference in rewards is. It's irrelevent on anything but a short quest. Granted, it is less relevant on long missions like I said but, that doesn't mean it's pointless. When I see people say something like this I have to wonder if they've ever done a torchless run or if they're basing their opinion off of simply looking at their loot bag after a successful radiant run and thinking it can't possibly get any more full. That's even true in long missions where the bonus loot becomes less relevant but, still noticable.

If you're focused on getting one thing in particular, then you are absolutely going to walk out of a torchless dungeon with far more of it then you would if you went with raidiant light. That's not true, one stack in your inventory doesn't necessarily = another stack. I brought this point up several times here and people still insist that it's more rewarding to go torchless, even though you get the same exact loot in the end due to the inventory size.
